Pre Labor Symptoms
Posted on July 1, 2007 in Pregnancy & Labor by little mochi
Many first time moms panic at the first sign of a contraction. However, there are prelabor symptoms, false labor symptoms, and real labor symptoms. It’s important to be able to recognize all three as you are nearing your due date. In this post, I’m going to talk a little about the pre labor symptoms. For information on false labor symptoms and real labor symptoms, read my other blogs about labor.
Prelabor Symptoms
- Lightning and Engagement: When the fetus drops into the pelvis. For first time mothers, this could happen weeks before real labor kicks in.
- Feelings of pressure in pelvis: It may feel like menstrual cramps.
- Weight Loss: Losing a few pounds may be normal during the last few weeks of your pregnancy.
- Energy Level: Some may find themselves suddenly with lots of energy whereas others are even more tired.
- Increased Vaginal Discharge
- Pink or Bloody Show
- Loss of Mucous Plug
- Increased Braxton Hicks contractions
- Diarrhea
If your show is bright red, call your practioner ASAP.

Labor can be a strenuous time for women, this is why it is good to be careful.
Panic does not have a ‘k’ on the end.
Thanks for the correction.
